The twentieth edition of the World Underwater Photography and Video Championship recently concluded in Saranda, a charming location along the southern coast of Albania. The event was attended by 75 professionals from 19 nations spread over four continents. For the sixth consecutive year, the competition included a video section in addition to the traditional photography section.
The championship was held following the regulations of CMAS, the Confédération Mondiale des Activités Subaquatiques, and was held from October 7 to 12. During this period, photographers and videomakers made more than 450 dives, competing for a total of 30 podiums, divided into seven categories for photography and three for video. Among the participating countries, Italy shined, winning no less than seven medals.
Participating athletes expressed great enthusiasm for the marine biodiversity and historic sites visited during the dives. Many participants described the experience as unique, emphasizing the thrill of exploring the fascinating depths of the sea.
